Residents From Oakleigh Lodge Developing Their Skills at Spokes and Twigs by the Emily Jordan Foundation 🌟

At Oakleigh Lodge on Tuesday’s a group of people we support attend Spokes and Twigs run by the Emily Jordan Foundation. 🌟

At Spokes, the people we support are being trained in the different steps to repair, recycle and service bikes. The people we support have made strong progress and are now able to strip, recondition and put back together bicycles. They have so much enjoyment from seeing their hard work being sold to the public, knowing that someone will have a lot of fun from the bicycle they have helped to rebuild and recycle. 🚲👏

At Twigs the people we support develop their skills around gardening and horticulture. They care for and watch their seeds grow into flowers, vegetables, and fruits, learning all about the way this happens. They also create wreaths and birdboxes to sell on to the public. 🌺🌼🍓🥕

Activity Coordinator Kayleigh said “The people we support absolutely love their Tuesday’s group and have worked so hard and achieved so much. This is a voluntary job that they do by creating items to sell, helping the foundation keep running.” 👏

It looks like everyone has great fun at Spokes and Twigs each Tuesday. By attending the foundation each week the people we support are developing new skills and contributing to their community by recycling old bikes and selling them to fund the foundation. Each week they are meeting new people and developing strong links across their local communities. These skills will help them develop their confidence and will support them to become more independent! 🙌 💙

Well done everyone for all your great work and helping keep the foundation running! 👏
