Darren who lives at Oakleigh Lodge had his first driving lesson last week and was so excited! He has been working hard practicing his theory and now has had his first practical lesson. 🚗
It is Darren’s dream to be able to drive, to go out with his friends and have his independence. He dreams of one day when the sun is shining to go out for a long drive in the countryside and take in the views and to be able to drive to take his family out shopping ☀. Darren started learning to drive when he was seventeen, however unfortunately Darren suffered the loss of his mum who meant so much to him, which led to him putting his driving lessons on hold as he felt he wasn’t in the right place.
Darren approached staff at Oakleigh Lodge just over a month ago after hearing a staff member had passed their test and told us how he used to learn, and it would be something he would love to do again and achieve. Straight away we applied for his provisional licence and got him booked in for his first lesson. 🙌 Darren has also had support from all the staff team to help practice the theory he has been given books and websites and often quizzes the staff to gain his knowledge and test their knowledge! 😃
Kayleigh who works at Oakleigh Lodge said “Darren’s first lesson was a huge success and at the end on his arrival back staff and residents stood outside Oakleigh giving him a well-deserved cheer as he approached us in his leaner car. We are all so proud of Darren, last year he ticked of his dream of touring America. This year Darren says it will be his biggest achievement of a dream, by learning to drive. Well done, Darren!”. 👏 🙌
What an amazing achievement for Darren in completing his first driving lesson and he is now on the road to gaining his licence with the amazing encouragement and support of staff at Oakleigh Lodge.🙌 Darren has already achieved some of his dreams whilst being supported at Oakleigh Lodge and now we will help Darren achieve his ultimate dream of learning to drive.🌟 We cannot wait to one day see Darren driving out in the country and taking pictures of the lovely views on his drives! 🚘
