Staff member Natalie at The Barn has been presented with some beautiful flowers from everyone at The Barn as a thank you for all her hard work and compliments from the people we support.
Senior support worker Kerry said “When working in health and social care, we spend many hours at work with our work family and we all strive to make things better, to make a difference and support each other throughout the journeys we face. The people we support recently had an empowerment meeting. A question came up to ask everyone if they were happy and if they had anything they would like to say. Eileen said, “I like Natalie, she is good to me and she helps me a lot.” Natalie was very taken back by Eileen’s compliment and she wanted to share with us all how it made her feel and how a little thing that we may take for granted can impact somebody else massively. It’s so important how little gestures and a small part of our time can be greatly appreciated by others and really does make the job worth it all.”
Natalie said “I know I have only been working at The Barn 3 and a half months and I’m still getting to grips with the change from coming from a care home to support living. Those who have worked in care homes will understand the massive difference it is coming from a care home to a place like The Barn. I was really overwhelmed by what Eileen said in response to being asked if she had any complaints or compliments to make. Eileen touched my heart she really did! Nearly every shift I am on I sit with Eileen and talk to her in the lounge and do some colouring and crafts. What she said made me realise it’s the simplest things that made Eileen give me that compliment just by sitting and talking with her.”
Eileen wanted to thank Natalie, so Kerry helped arrange for a massive bunch of flowers to be presented to Natalie from everyone at The Barn and to let her know how incredible she really is!
