Tim who is supported at our Primavera supported living service has been working hard to develop his social skills and grow his confidence by attending a local Culture Café.
When Tim left college, he struggled to find work experience to enable him to continue to build on his skills. Eventually Tim managed to find a gardening project helping to maintain the grounds of the Military Museum. However, Tim found it difficult to move onto something new when this project was complete. Tim spent time looking for different projects and experiences to develop his skills but found this difficult due to his anxiety. After a long search and support from staff, Tim found a Culture Café at a local community hub. Tim has been working on his social skills, cooking and even completed a barista course, making coffee for people at the community hub. Tim now gets involved in social activities and continues to learn about people and coffee!
It is great to learn that Tim is getting to know new people and building a local social network as well as learning new independent living skills. By improving social skills, it provides Tim with the confidence to try out more new projects and participate in more social activities and enhances his skills development.
These skills are important for the people we support (PWS) to develop and staff aim to support them with developing these skills for the PWS to transition into independent living in the future.
Well done Tim!👏
