Time to Talk Day

There were more fantastic events for Time to Talk Day last week!

At Mansard House staff were invited to come and have a chat, brew and cake. ️ Whilst the people we support enjoyed a great mindfulness walk all chatting away to each other!

Wellbeing Lead Ange said “The day provided a great opportunity to talk through any problems and for the staff to chat about anything they wanted to. I had a wellbeing chat with the people we support discussing how to look after your mental health, explaining it is good to talk, staff are always here anytime and to also speak to family, friends and their peers.  We then headed out on our mindfulness walk, around Moor Park visiting the cafe for coffee and cake. ☕ As we walked, I spent time talking to each person individually, having a wellbeing catch up. Everyone enjoyed getting out of the house, exercising, connecting with nature and spending time chatting with their peers.”

Over at Dale House a successful day was had by all!

Senior support worker Michaella said, “We kicked off the day with a paper plate exercise, wearing paper plates on our backs and walking around the room writing positive things on each others backs.

It gave us all a boost reading what other people thought about us, the smiles on peoples faces when they seen how happy other people were by their comments were even better. They are now proudly displayed on our people we support notice board, so if anyone is having a tough day, they can remind themselves of all the good things about themselves that everyone admires. We had some great discussions about mental health and learning disabilities and how important it is to talk about our feelings. This led us onto discussing how important it is that we can now see some changes in the world about how everyone, no matter their differences have a voice. ️ We then enjoyed a great afternoon tea together and everyone is feeling a lot better after all our discussions from the day. A big thank you to staff Amanda, Caron and PBS practitioner Zoe for being a great support!”

Sam said, “It made me feel happy, excited and enjoyed hanging out with friends and staff.”

Irene said, “Made me feel good and it helped me think of things to do everyday and activities to make me feel better.”

At Oakleigh Lodge, their wellbeing lead Emma organised beautiful cupcakes for everyone to enjoy over a cup of tea with a good old chat! ☕️ Followed by some Time to Talk games.

Registered Manager Rosie at Somerville said “For Time to Talk day we organised a catch up were everyone enjoyed a cuppa and cake. We used Minds conversation starters and everyone joined in and we all enjoyed having a good catch up together.”

It looks like there were some great conversations and fun across our services, well done everyone for opening up and discussing mental health!
