It’s never been more important to tackle mental health stigma in the workplace, that’s why Potens has signed up to the Time to Change Campaign – demonstrating a commitment to change how we think and act about mental health in the workplace. In response, Potens’ Time to Change Champions are receiving formal training to support the organisations Time to Change campaign pledge.
Nicki Stadames, Chief Operating Officer, explains, “Signing the Time to Change pledge is just the first step in the process. What it is important to us is bringing about real change in how we think and act about mental health in the workplace – making sure Potens’ employees who are facing these problems feel supported.”
This week, Potens’ managers and senior staff, who have committed to becoming Time for Change Champions in the workplace, will receive training to equip them for their new role.
Glenn Barnett, North Wales Area Manager for the group who has been one of the leads for the campaign adds: “The session today hopes to provide information and advice to our Champions on recognising staff who may be having psychological or emotional difficulties. Our aim is for their learning to strengthen the role of line managers in promoting the mental wellbeing of Potens’ employees through a supportive leadership style and good management practices, giving managers and trained staff the information on how to respond.”
Delegates will discuss different approaches to mental health, some of the more common mental health conditions and also look at the relationship between stress, wellbeing and performance, as well as providing a platform to share experiences and good practice.
Nicki adds: “The next step will be for learning to be embedded across all our teams, with thinking and good practice being rolled out over the coming months – an internal drive to tackle mental health stigma and demonstrate a genuine commitment to our Time to Change pledge.”
