St Piran’s Day Celebrations at Potens ✨

Our houses down in Cornwall have enjoyed their St Piran’s Day celebrations this week.

On Wednesday 5th March it was Saint Piran’s Day (Cornish: Gool Peran) or the Feast of Saint Piran, a day that is celebrated as the ‘National Day of Cornwall’ held on the 5th of March every year. The day is named after one of the patron saints of Cornwall, Saint Piran, who is also the patron saint of tin miners.

Deputy Manager at Tarrant House Debbie said, “One of our St Piran Day celebrations – had to be a Cornish Pasty! We also enjoyed some scones (Jam before cream) which were devoured very quickly. It was great to see everyone spending the day together celebrating.”

At Woodside Farmhouse they also celebrated the day with homemade Cornish pasties and scones.

Registered Manager Paul said, “The people we support and staff here at Woodside Farmhouse have been enjoying their St Piran’s Day 2025 celebrations. Everyone had had a great St Piran’s day, revelling in the delights of homemade pasties and scones. ‍ The jam most definitely went on first, then the Cornish clotted cream. A big thank you to Senior support worker Rachel who oversaw the making of 17 homemade Cornish pasties!”

Fantastic photos of everyone celebrating St Piran’s Day and enjoying the Cornish goodies, lots of smiles all around!

Well done Rachel for baking the delicious homemade Cornish pasties for everyone to enjoy, they look amazing.
