At the end of June Potens’ Springfield Day Opportunities service in Darlington held their annual fundraising summer party at Cockerton Club attended by over 100 people from across Darlington for a fantastic summer evening of fun, food, dancing and entertainment.
Springfield is Potens’ Day Opportunities service in Darlington which provides a range of day opportunities, workshops and short breaks provision for people across the region to engage in activities in their local community.
Catherine Corner, Service Manager said: “The evening started at 6pm and went on till 9. The disco provided all the good old 80’s tunes and we had a game of bingo and lots of raffles and games.
With party goers and staff dressed up in their 80’s themed fancy dress costumes, the event was a great opportunity to meet new people as well as spend time with friends and family.
Catherine explains; “We had lots of people attending who don’t access our service – but as we have such a good reputation of, as they say ‘putting on a cracking Buffet and a good old do’, they came along to help us celebrate and raise some money for our fantastic service!”
The party raised over £450 for the individuals who access Springfield Day Opportunities services service to spend on items and events for their service over the coming months.
“This will be decided by individuals who access our service at our next service user meeting where we will support the individuals to plan and brainstorm ideas for the money to be spent.”
