Shamita moved into Paxton House in March of this year and has brought an abundance of energy, a huge personality and a love of music to the house.
Staff member Helen said, “Shamita came to Paxton after living at home, her family visits often but she loves going back to her family home for visits. When they visit Paxton, they drop off some amazing smelling home cooked meals which Shamita loves. ️ Our staff team was very impressed by how quickly Shamita settled into life with us. Shamita loves music, she particularly likes Bruno Mars, Beyonce and The Great Showman soundtrack, if you are lucky enough, she will take you by the hands and spin you around while listening to a favourite track. Since living at Paxton, she has taken a keen interest in the goings on in the kitchen and likes to sit by the door and watch what is happening in there. She will guide staff to what she would like and be very precise on what that maybe, she is a huge fan of bourbon biscuits! One of the very impressive things Shamita can do is turn tinsel into glitter. It is fascinating to watch her tear it apart before rubbing it into the tinniest of pieces, none of us know how she manages this. ✨ Shamita’s energy and overall joyful demeanour often entertains and rubs off onto her housemates and staff. There is something that Shamita appears to enjoy more than anything else, which is being outside. In the warmer/dryer months we purchased a gazebo for her, to give her some shelter. She would spend most of her time out there with staff just enjoying the feeling of grass between her fingers. Now the weather isn’t as pleasant, we bring the outside in for Shamita, washing grass so she can still get the same sensory experience but in the warmth of the house. We at Paxton feel very fortunate to support Shamita and look forward to the journey of her progression and adventures her contagious personality and endless energy will take us on.” ✨
Senior support worker Hannah said, “Shamita has brought a new energy and excitement to the house with her lovely personality and staff look forward to trying new activities with her, she is a real joy to be around”.
An incredible positive support outcome for Shamita and for the team at Paxton House.
A big well done and thank you to the staff team at Paxton House for supporting Shamita to settle into her new home and find new ways to encourage her favourite activities. Especially adapting Shamita’s favourite sensory activity for the winter by bringing the grass inside to her.
We are so happy that you have settled into your new home so well and are having lots of fun with your new house mates and making everyone smile and laugh.
