Lighthouse Class decided they wanted to raise money for the RNLI after visiting them on their outdoor learning day. On their visit the children were shown around the boat and had a chance to find out what happens in an emergency at sea.
Back at school pupils researched more into what the RNLI do and felt this was very inspiring, so they decided to have a cake sale to raise money for them.
They researched recipes for the cakes they wanted to make and wrote to parents to ask them to provide the money for pupils to buy them. They then baked the cakes and set up a stall in the dining room to sell them.
Other pupils wanted to contribute too, and by working as a team they raised £60.78. They then revisited the RNLI to give the funds in person.
Later that week a senior member of the RNLI lifeboat team came into school to visit pupils – and presented them with a lovely certificate
to say thank you!
