Georgia is Potens Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead. Here she tells us about her career in care which all started when she was 19 and training to be a learning disability nurse.

“I started my career in 1988 when I trained to be a learning disability nurse at the tender age of 19. I then went on to work in a hospital setting and then in the community where I ran one of the first community-based homes in Stafford, back in 1991 after the Community Care Act in 1990 with the closure of the large hospitals.
I moved to Dorset in 1995 where I worked mainly with people who had behaviours that challenge and autism which are my passion. My career has led me to many different paths including management and teaching.
In 2017 I joined Potens as a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Facilitator based in the South. In 2020 I shared my vision with Naomi and Nicki of developing a PBS Department. The role has grown and there is much need for PBS to be embedded in all services. In September I was promoted to PBS Lead. With the help of my colleague David Walton, now Senior PBS Facilitator, we are supporting various PBS Assistants to develop on the role and implement PBS within their services.
I feel that I am part of a family working in Potens and that new ideas and creativity is really supported. This is by far one of the best jobs I have ever had and look forward to many more years being part of the Potens family.”
