There were more celebrations across Potens on Thursday for World Mental Health Day! 💚
Registered Manager at Parkside Lodge Christine said “We started the day with a staff meeting discussing this year’s theme of workplace mental health and created ideas to support with this including taking 5-10 minutes outside, going for a walk and stepping away from the desk for a short break. Our Wellbeing lead made all the staff a sweet cone, badge pins and bracelets which we all loved and enjoyed with our cuppas throughout the day. 🙌 We have also sent a little something to our co-workers at head office for them to enjoy during the day. The people we support have also got involved in discussions across the day and had a craft afternoon where we discussed the importance of talking about your mental health.” 🌟
At Middleton Lodge, they spent the day discussing workplace mental health and all the staff received self-care packages. 😊
Deputy Manager Paige said, “Not everyone experiences mental health, not everyone shows it, but we should all be aware of it. We encourage our staff to talk and share their feelings and not feel like a burden to others, we have encouraged staff to take time out and have a cuppa and chat. We are promoting kindness, understanding and compassion towards each other today and every other day. We need to remind staff that it is okay not to be okay.” 🤗
At Clement House, the staff and people we support enjoyed an afternoon tea and talk which included cookies made by Chloe and Susan. 🍪 Deputy Manager Nicola said “The staff were reading all of the posters that had been displayed in support of World Mental Health Day. They all openly discussed personal struggles and how we all aim to support each other. 🤗 The people we support enjoyed the afternoon and we all had a good talk and catch up together!”
Over at Heath Lodge, they started the day with a morning full of biscuits, brews, and bingo. 🍵🍪 Senior support worker Dean said “Staff members went out especially and bought some prizes with a wellbeing theme and all the people we support and staff were happy to join in with some games and enjoy all the treats on offer! 🌟 We found it brought the home together and created a wonderful atmosphere that lasted throughout the rest of the day. 🏡 The people we support thanked the staff afterward for planning the morning and we reminded everyone of the importance of their mental health and connecting with each other. It proved such a success we’ll be sure to plan more similar events soon!” 👏
Our Central Admin team got together and played a mental health quiz in support of the day where admin assistant Ann Francis took the win and got 7 out of 8 questions correct – well done Ann! 🏆 Followed by a tea & talk to check in with each other and discuss this year’s theme of workplace mental health. 🙌
It looks like everyone has had a great day connecting with each other, well done everyone! 🧡
