Amy who lives at Manor Road Flats has been busy with her support staff carrying out her weekly activities and recently celebrated all her achievements!
Manager Viorika said, “On a Sunday, Amy makes a plan of her activities for the week ahead. This can be anything she fancies from a local walk, swimming, art, baking, shopping, cinema etc. This week for Tuesday Amy requested a party! Amy has developed so much since moving into more independent living with continuous staff support. So, support worker Helen decided these newfound skills and confidence should be celebrated and that was the focus of the party – ‘Celebrating Amy’s Achievements’. Amy was fully involved in all aspects of the party, helping to decorate, set her table, nipped to the local shop to get a few party treats which she also prepared. A homemade banner was made and we displayed some of her many incredible achievements such as “talking more”, “keeping her home clean and tidy”, “baking” “college” “making your support staff smile” and so many more! It really was not hard to come up with all the things Amy has mastered, improved in or is progressing in. When each one was written, Helen would read it out to Amy and Amy would place them on her blinds. Amy is an excellent reader so she will be able to read these multiple times. All of them bought a smile to Amy’s face but the one that created the biggest was the one which read “Making Dad even more proud”. Amy has a very close relationship with her Dad and without a doubt she has brought him an immeasurable amount of joy and pride. I have no doubt that in a few months when Amy requests a party again, the blinds will be filled with even more achievements, we might even have to think about expanding to outside, endless potential! It was great to see Amy enjoy her party and to show her just how proud of her everyone is.”
