Last week our services in the North East held a fantastic celebration party to mark Potens’ 30 Year anniversary – with every service across the Tees region coming together to celebrate in style!
Potens’ Area Manager, Wais Zamani, and Potens’ Support Worker, Jamie Leigh Dodds, have embarked on their Extreme Challenge – running the distance between all six of Potens’ services in the Tyne area over Mental Health Awareness Week (13-19th May) to raise money for charity.
May is a very special month for Potens as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary!
To mark the beginning of our 30 year celebrations we will be showcasing stories from across our wonderful organisation every day throughout May. This will include stories from all areas of Potens – from the people we support, our team members, our services, and the unsung heroes – demonstrating personal achievement, success, expertise and what makes Potens so special.
Darren, one of the individuals living at one of Potens’ Mental Health Supported Living Services in Preston, has recently ran a special Addiction Workshop for staff team’s in Lancashire.
As an employer with over 250 employees we are required by law to publish a Gender Pay Gap Report under the Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017. We are proud to confirm that the Gender Pay Gap for Potens has shown a positive reduction on last year (7.8% v 11.7% in 2017) and is lower than the UK average of 13.7% (as at 29 March 2019).
A huge congratulations to Liam who is supported by our team in Preston, for losing a whopping 2.5 stone on what has been an amazing weight loss journey – a real personal achievement for Liam in increasing his health and well-being and a step closer to his dream of becoming a fire-fighter.
As a proud supporter of the Special Olympics GB, our Chairman, John Farragher, is representing Potens at the Special Olympics World Summer Games this week. In response, LBN news have featured John in an article highlighting his support and raising awareness of the Summer Games being hosted this week.

Potens are proud official supporters of Special Olympics GB – supporting the largest year-round, all ability, sports programme in Great Britain which supports over 10,000 athletes with learning disabilities.
