Westhead in West Lancashire hosted a ‘Day at Westhead Races’ last week – a fantastic idea to have a day of fun during lockdown at the service in Ormskirk.
Manager Joanne told us:
“Staff supported service users to design and colour in posters to display on the walls outside along with some pictures of race horses. We then set about making our very own fascinators out of headbands and paper to wear on the day. Bubbly, strawberries and cream were in abundance and service users all donned in their best outfits! ”
“We had 6 races in total and all service users picked a horse for each race then watched it on DVD in the garden. All cheered their own horse over the race line. The atmosphere was like the real thing.”
“Everyone said they had a great day and want to do it again very soon!”
