Cornish Close – Respite Service
Cornish Close Respite Service provides emergency support for people with a learning disability who need space and time to decide on their future placements. We offer placements in a residential setting which provides support in all aspects of daily life. People staying with us are encouraged to participate as much as possible with the day to day running of the unit with things like food preparation, domestic tasks and shopping. The staff on the unit work with the person, their carers, their social worker and other professionals to find suitable long term placements and support the person to move on to a new permanent home as quickly as possible. We will build skills and offer alternatives that support the person to consider where they want to be and how they want to be supported.
Staff & Training
We provide excellent staff who are encouraged to develop themselves through training and personal development so they can build their skills to meet the needs of the people we support. Our care staff are all trained to level 2 NVQ, our Senior Support Workers are trained to level 3 our managers are trained to level 4 and our service manager is trained to level 5. We also offer additional specialist training to ensure our staff have the skills required to give the best support possible.
